Somm Circle is a community for anyone who loves wine — whether you’re just beginning your journey or deepening your expertise. Our goal is simple: to bring together curious, like-minded people who want to explore, learn, and enjoy great wines in good company.

The story began in 2021, when Kristy founded the DMV Wine Explorers Meetup group to connect local wine enthusiasts. What started as a casual idea has grown into a vibrant community of more than 2,500 members, with events that have included tastings, wine dinners, vineyard visits, and educational experiences. As the community grew, we discovered a core group of members who were eager to go deeper — to experience more intimate gatherings, discover rare and distinctive wines, and build lasting connections with fellow enthusiasts. Somm Circle was created for them: a smaller, more curated extension of the DMV Wine Explorers that focuses on quality over quantity. Here, members enjoy thoughtfully designed events that highlight craftsmanship, regional diversity, and the joy of shared discovery.
